Let’s look at the benefits

From lower starting salaries to government subsidies, there are a range of financial incentives that make hiring a trainee over an experienced worker a smart financial decision for your business.

Through the subsidy, any business that engages a trainee from July 2022 may be eligible for a subsidy of 10 percent of wages paid to a new or recommencing  trainee for a 12-month period from the date of commencement, to a maximum of $1,500 per quarter.

Trainees in priority occupations may be eligible for a direct Australian Apprentice Training Support payment of up to $6,000 over two years, while employers of  trainees in non-priority occupations may be eligible for a $4,000 hiring incentive.

That’s money in your pocket that you can invest back into your business and further training!

Support payments may be available up to $2500 for the Trainee.

Plus, extra wage subsidies are available for Indigenous Australians and Torres Strait Islanders, people with disability (includes people with ADD/ADHD).

There is no cap on the number of eligible trainees, and the Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements wage subsidy is in addition to the Supporting Apprentices and Trainees wage subsidy which has helped small and medium businesses to keep their trainees in work and training.
